This has to be one of the most fun races every year. This year, like last, I went with my 11 year old daughter, Lea in a mixed OC-2 division. We raced with Mike Giblin of Ozone and his 11 year old daughter Keala Giblin. We had so much fun the year before that we decided to do it again. The conditions started out with light tradewinds and the wind eventually picked up during the race making the last twelve miles pretty epic. At one point in the race Lea (my daughter) and I made up 150-200 yds on the leading OC1 paddler. This made her day and I could see the competitive spirit in her come out. We finished first in our division but more importantly Mike and I got a whole day on the ocean with our girls paddling which is always PRICELESS.
